Advocate P Wilson, nominated by the DMK was elected to Rajya Sabha. Well before the nominations, reportedly, Christian bishops had requested to the DMK that one MP seat should be given to someone from their religion.
P Wilson has brought few notable legal victories to the DMK including the tussle with the ADMK government over the Karunanidhi's Marina burial ground.
Yesterday, a delegation of Archibishops and Evangelists met with the DMK chief MK Stalin for electing Advocate P Wilson to the Rajya Sabha. Bishops from Roman Catholic, Church of South India (C.S.I) and Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church (T.E.L.C) has thanked the DMK and MK Stalin.
DMK which is vocal about secularism is often seen to be hurting Hindu sentiments to show their solidarity towards minority communities. However, the party's leaning towards the Christianity has invited a lot of criticisms in the Social Media.
