Government withdraw SPG Security to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh

The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to withdraw the Special Protection Group (SPG) security that had been granted to the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. In response, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will provide security for the former Prime Minister.


SPG protection will be provided only to political party leaders such as Prime Minister Modi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. The SPG security that was granted to Manmohan is said to be withdrawn on the basis of an annual SPG security review. At the same time, Z-plus security provided to Manmohan Singh will continue.


Special protection provided to Former prime minister Deva Gowda had also been withdrawn. Special protection were provided to former prime ministers and their families only on the basis of threats. Before this, the special protection given to Manmohan's daughter had already been withdrawn.
