Hyderabad now has the 2nd largest metro rail network

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday,
flagged off of the metro train on Green Line stretch from Jubliee Bus Station
(JBS) to Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS). This 11 km stretch connects Hyderabad
and Secunderabad. With this addition, Hyderabad becomes 2nd largest
metro rail network in the country after Delhi with a connectivity length of
69.2 kms.

The route passes through important places like Musheerabad, Parade
Grounds, Sultan Bazar and RTC Cross Roads. Opening of this route paves
way for the movement of commuters between largest hubs in Telangana. The
stretch, which has nine metro stations, is expected to reduce travel time to
just 16 minutes from one end to the other, as against 45 minutes by road.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 28, 2017 inaugurated
the first section of the metro Miyapur-Ameerpet-Nagole. The second section between Ameerpet and L.B.
Nagar was opened in 2018. In March 2019, the third section between Ameerpet-Hitec
City was thrown open.

The 73-km elevated metro is the biggest metro project in the
world in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode at a total cost of Rs 20,000
