Nazia, the mother of 4 months old Mohammad Jahan, in a video
shared by prominent journalist Barkha Dutt’s venture MoJo says that she brought
her child to the protest every day and that the child died because of cold.
Adding further as to why she brought the child to protests,
she says “How can I leave the child behind with someone else? He also had to
fight for our rights. He also wanted ‘Azaadi’. That is the reason why I
brought my child with me.”
She mentions that her child died fighting for the country
and that NRC should be taken back.
It is to be noted that the Parliament passed the Citizenship
Amendment Act 2019 to fast track the citizenship by naturalization process for
those refugees belonging to Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jain, Parsi and Sikh
faith from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan who entered India before
December 31, 2014. It did not pass any law relating to NRC in the month of
December. NRC was implemented only Assam as mandated by Supreme Court and to
fulfil the commitments in the Assam Accord.
To a question by the reporter where she can be heard asking
whether if she is scared about her other children, the mother of late Jahan says
