The final list of
National Register of Citizens (NRC) was released in Assam last week and nearly
19 Lakhs people were excluded from NRC in the final list. There were also many
demands on implementing similar exercise throughout India as illegal immigrants
have entered almost every Indian state.

Manipur Chief Minister N
Biren Singh Monday said that the state government is providing support to
implement NRC in Manipur and is going to approach the Centre government for NRC
implementation in Manipur like Assam.

Manipur has already approved a resolution favoring the
National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh
told reporters on the sidelines of the NEDA conclave.

He also voiced for the implementation of NRC in other
North-Eastern states. "We and many
of the states in the north east need NRC. The Manipur government has
already taken a decision in the cabinet to have NRC,"
Chief Minister N
Biren Singh said.

Chief Minister said that the view of central
government is very clear that no illegal immigrant will be allowed to stay inside
India. When he was asked about the method through which the Manipur state will
implement such an exercise, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said "It will be
done through the central government.
