British MP and chairperson of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Kashmir in Britain who landed in Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport today was deported back to Dubai. She along with her aide Harpreet Upal arrived at the airport on an Emirates flight from Dubai at 9 a.m. According to the Home Ministry officials quoted by ANI, the British MP was denied entry into India as she did not possess a valid visa to visit India.
The lawmaker is known for her incisive attack on India for abrogating Article 370. She had expressed "grave concerns" over the abrogation of Article 370 and claimed that the move would lead to increased tensions in the region. She mentioned that the precautionary troop movements were in violation of international humanitarian law. Shortly after the Parliament passing a law to change the status of Jammu and Kashmir she wrote to India's High Commissioner to the UK that the action "betrays the trust of the people" of Kashmir.
