The Stanley Medical College and Hospital has commissioned a robot as a nurse that delivers food, water, medicines and even books in the COVID-19 ward.
With a two-way camera, the robot has been introduced to reduce the interactions of health care staff especially nurses with the COVID-19 patients. A trial was conducted for a few days with a nurse trained on its operations and posted at the ward.
Health Minister Vijayabaskar who came for inspection said "The robot will help avoid overexposure of the staff nurses to COVID-19 positive patients. They can operate it to deliver food, water and medicines to the patients. It is important that the healthcare providers are protected from acquiring any infection."
