Labour of love: Migrant workers paint school

Migrant workers coming from different states who have been quarantined in a government school in Sikar district of Rajasthan decided to paint and repair the school as a token of return for taking care of them. The workers had noticed that the school which was in bad shape and needed a facelift. The workers taken by the hospitality decided to put their skills to use to paint and repair the building, clean the surroundings and plant samplings.
The Government Senior Secondary School at Palsana, 28 kms from Sikar, was being used as temporary shelter for migrant workers who were working in local units. The workers were from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and other parts of Rajasthan. None of them had COVID-19 symptoms but they were spending their mandatory 14 day quarantine period in the school.
Food and medical assistance were offered in timely manner. Moved by the concern towards them, they decided to return the favour by renovating the school. The paints, brushes, and other tools were raised by the teachers, panchayat staffs and villagers. The school's alumni too helped in raising funds.
