Higher Education Minister KP Anabhagan said the respective private engineering colleges should decide whether to continue or shut down if the enrollment of students is low.


The Minister of Higher Education KP Anbhaganan inaugurated the consultation for the B.Arch courses at Central Polytechnic College, Dharami, Chennai. The Minister also issued orders for the allocation of the first 20 seats. 1827 have applied to over 1810 places in 51 colleges across Tamil Nadu.


Students are invited for counselling based on the cut-off marks obtained in the NATA entrance examination. The counselling, which began today, is scheduled for 3 days until the 8th of this month. Speaking to reporters after the inauguration of the counselling, the minister said student enrollment in more than 100 engineering colleges this year is in just single digits.


When he was asked whether the government would take action to close those colleges, the minister replied that the respective colleges should decide about the closure not the government.
