Prime Minister Modi said in the presence of US President Donald Trump that there is no need for a third person to intervene in the Kashmir issue. Trump acknowledged that this was just a two-nation problem. Modi met with US President Trump at this G-7 summit in France. After the talks between two leaders, the two jointly met the reporters.

"There are many bilateral issues between India and Pakistan, and we don't want to create troubles for any third country. We can discuss and resolve these issues bilaterally," PM Modi said when he addressed the reporters jointly with US President Donald Trump.

"I have very good relationship with both the gentlemen (PM Modi and Imran Khan). I think they can resolve the issue by themselves. We are talking about trade, we are talking about military and many different things. We had some great discussions, we were together last night for dinner and I learned a lot about India", US President Donald Trump said.

India although not being part of G-7 group, was invited to the meeting through a special invitation. Earlier, Trump had said that he was ready to mediate on the Kashmir issue but today, Trump making the claim that the Kashmir affair is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan is regarded as a major diplomatic setback for Pakistan.
