As
the Congress party is struggling very hard to launch a comeback after facing a
massive washout in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the party’s senior leader
Salman Khurshid on Tuesday said that it is high time to analyze the reason for
its defeat and understand the message of the verdict. He also accused the
former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for not carrying out the analysis
because Rahul Gandhi resigned from the Congress President post, which had left
a vacuum in the party.

Salman
Khurshid, who was a former External Affairs Minister, said he was not satisfied
and happy with the temporary arrangements that were made by the party by installing
Sonia Gandhi as the interim president of Indian National Congress. “I am not
happy with that. Whoever is our leader, I want him or her to stay. I want them
to stay,” he told to the Indian Express.

He
told he is displaying his “agony” so that his agony gets registered somewhere. Regarding
the prospects of Indian National Congress in the states such as Haryana and
Maharashtra Assembly elections, he hoped that the party is ready to fight a
battle. “We got a new leadership in Haryana and elsewhere, I hope we are
ready,” he said. When he was asked about the divisions in the party in Haryana
and Maharashtra, he said, “Those problems are there for everyone to see. But we
just have to handle them. What I am saying is let’s handle it. Time is short.”
