Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) leaders met the chairman of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and filed a petition asking not to sell the steel plants of Salem, Badravathi and Durgapur to private players and instead demanded to revamp these plants in a profit making manner. From September 2 to September 7, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh leaders conducted the necessary inspections to prevent the privatization and to boost profitability of the three corporations.
On September 3rd and 4th, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh visited the Salem Steel Plant for the inspection. They also met the Managing Director of the plant, Salem MP( Honorable SR Parthiban) and all the trade union executives to discuss the need to operate the plant profitably and to prevent privatization. After inspecting all three Steel plants, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh leaders met SAIL chairman and urged the chairman on behalf of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh to stop the privatization of steel plants.
