37,904 farmers from Tamil Nadu have joined in Prime Minister's newly introduced pension scheme for farmers in just one day
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Union government's pension scheme for small and marginal farmers above the age of 60. At the function, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a membership card for the pension scheme to Satya Narayanan, a farmer from Papanasam taluk of Tanjore district.
37,904 farmers from Tamil Nadu have joined this scheme. These farmers will receive a pension of Rs.3000 every month after crossing 60 years.
4953 farmers from Pudukkottai district, 1952 from Villupuram district, 1854 from Tirunelveli district, 1703 from Virudhunagar district, 1681 from Thiruvannamalai district and 1643 from the Tiruchirapalli district have joined this scheme.
Total of 24,952 people have been issued with identity cards. It was announced that remaining people who didn't receive identity cards will receive them soon. Steps are also being taken to include more farmers in this scheme.
