BJP Delhi Chief Manoj Tiwari demands NRC for Delhi

Update: 2019-08-31 11:34 GMT

Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari
has emphasized the need of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Delhi as he
feels that the situation is becoming dangerous because of the presence of
illegal immigrants in the national capital.

This statement comes from the Delhi BJP chief after the final NRC
list of Assam was released in online recently. The final NRC list has left out
over 19 lakh people in Assam and they will be declared as illegal migrants if
they don't challenge their exclusion from NRC list.

"Illegal immigrants who have settled here are the most
dangerous, we will implement NRC here as well,"
Manij
Tiwari said.

Announcing the final NRC list, the government said a total of 3.29
crore people had applied for the NRC, of which 3.11 were found to be eligible
to be included in the final list.

While
several party leaders from BJP have voiced supporting the implementation of NRC
in other parts of the country as well, this is probably for the first time that
a top BJP leader had voiced for NRC exclusively for the national capital Delhi.
