Coimbatore Police picked up a Bangladeshi illegal immigrant for being part of Pakistan Whatsapp group
Special Intelligence Cell (SIC) of Coimbatore police have picked up a Bangladesh illegal immigrant Muslim youth as he part of Pakistani Whatsapp groups. Police commissioner Sumit Sharan underplayed the matter and asked people not to become panic.
Sources said the Bangladeshi illegal immigrant named Farooq, who worked in a goldsmith shop in the city was questioned after he was doubted to have discussed guns and explosives in a WhatsApp group based on Pakistan. Farooq had given his phone for service and the information to the police was given by the mobile service shop owner as he found details about explosives being shared in the group. Police found that this man had both Aaadhar and Ration cards and wondered how an illegal immigrant can get Aadhar and ration cards.
Two of his friends were also picked up by the Coimbatore Police. These men were part of whatsapp groups such as ‘PaKiStAn mUjAiD’ and ‘Remember 27 Feb 2019’.
Coimbatore is recently becoming a hub of Islamic terrorism. NIA conducted various raids in Coimbatore and detained many in last few months suspecting them to be having links with ISIS.
