Indian Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin
Gadkari, gave an address at WION EMobility Summit and said that Union
government is showing support to e-vehicles by reducing the GST for e-vehicles
and thus shows its intent to work for the cause of clean energy in India.

In his address at WION EMobility Summit, he said, "We are
not against any automobile industry. We are encouraging bio-fuel. Our
import is Rs 7 lakh crore which is not good for the country."

He also
said that India’s export for petrol and diesel vehicles is very high. Gadkari also
suggested that new innovations and new technology are very vital for the
people.

"My suggestion is, now it is an
open competition. The government has got nothing to do with that, we are
encouraging e-vehicles by reducing GST,"
Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari
said. He also emphasized the need to better the transport systems in rural
areas and also the need to create more jobs.
