Following the announcement of the government, increase in the Aavin milk price is coming into effect from today (August 19). Consequently, the prices of the other products of Aavin commodity have also risen.
Milk producers associations have requested the government to increase the procurement price of milk due to the high prices of livestock fodder. Meanwhile, the purchase price of milk has been raised by four rupees per liter and at the same time, the selling price has been raised by Rs 6 per liter. This price hike comes to effect from today.
Due to the increase in milk prices, the prices of Aavin's products such as milk powder, yoghurt, lassi, ice cream and paneer have also risen rapidly.
Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy in his speech at Salem told, "Most of the dairy cooperatives are running at a loss. Diesel prices have increased and the cost of transporting milk also has increased. The purchase price has been increased by accepting the demand from the manufacturers. Increase in purchase prices is more in Tamil Nadu than other states. Cattle fodder cannot be sold in a ration shop.".
