Justice Mahadevan and Adikesavalu heard the contempt of court petition filed by the Idol Trafickking Squad special officer Pon Maickavel regarding Tamil Nadu government non-adherence to the orders of Madras High Court. Madras High Court had raised a question to Tamil Nadu government on not even providing basic facilities for the Idol Trafickking squad.

Idol Trafficking team was not provided with
enough facilities when they visited Kumbakonam court for a case regarding idol
theft. No case had been filed by the government since this January on the issue
of idol theft. Pon Mancikavel pointed out these issues with agony.

The court also condemned the Tamil Nadu
government for not providing proper response for the contempt of court case
just because the advocate arguing this issue for the state government had changed.
The court also asked how a ADGP prevent a court-appointed special officer from
conducting preliminary hearing and also questioned whether the permission of
higher officials in police department is asked before filing a complaint. The
court postponed the hearing and asked the Tamil Nadu government to file their
response by September 11th.
