One more bomb diffused at Kanchipuram Gangai Amman Temple on Friday

On August 25, two men lost
their lives and three were critically injured after a mysterious metal object found
near Gangai Amman Temple tank in Kanchipuram district’s Manampathi exploded.


Bomb detection squad and
commandos of Tamil Nadu police on Friday had defused a similar unexploded metal
piece that was unearthed from the temple pond of Gangai Amman Temple in
Kanchipuram district’s Manampathi.


After investigation, police
officials found that as highly explosive anti-tank ammunition, allegedly left
there by a scrap shop owner after the relocation. When the police went to
investigate the shop owner Rafique, he was found absconding. Police officials found
the absconded shop owner and were investigating him.


On the next day of the
blast, another metal piece was found by the bomb squad in the same area near
the temple pond. This unearthed piece was then disposed of safely by the bomb
squad at a secluded area in Kanchipuram.
