Tamil Nadu government starts work for planting 71 Lakhs trees for late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's 71st Birth Anniversary

It was announced on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu that 71 lakh tree saplings will be planted across Tamil Nadu on the 71st birthday of the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy inaugurated the project by planting the first tree near the statue of Pavender Bharathidasan in Kamarajar Road during the former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's birthday on February 24.


In this backdrop, the Government of Tamil Nadu has released Rs.19,57,00,000 for this project. It was proposed that trees will be planted at school, colleges, parks, state-owned areas and forest areas in rural places throughout Tamil Nadu. It was also said that it plans to make the environment much greener by planting more trees.


The Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered the planting of 64 lakh saplings oh behalf of the rural development department under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and 7 lakh saplings on behalf of the Forest Department. The Director of Rural Development Department has directed all district officials to start these projects as early as possible.
