A team of Central Bureau of Investigation
(CBI) team's attempt to meet former Union Finance minister P Chidambaram didn’t
yield any results on Wednesday morning as the investigative officers had to
return after failing to meet the Congress leader.

On Tuesday, Delhi High Court didn’t grant bail to the
former finance minister and had dismissed Chidambaram’s both anticipatory
bail pleas related to INX Media case.

With senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister
P. Chidambaram absconding after the Delhi High Court refusing to grant him anticipatory
bail from arrest in the INX Media case, the CBI pasted a notice on the gate of
Chidambaram’s house asking him to appear before the investigation officer within
just two hours.

The notice pasted at the gate of Chidambaram’s
house read, "Whereas it appears
that you are acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the cases noted
below which I am now investigating under chapter XII of the CrPc, you are
hereby directed to attend before me within two hours of the receipt for the
purpose of the investigation of the case."

Chidambaram’s lawyers are working hard to seek protection
from arrest from the Supreme Court today. Central Bureau of Investigation is
investigating the former finance minister in the INX Media case that was
registered on May 15, 2017 alleging irregularities in the FIPB clearance
granted to the media group for receiving overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007
during his tenure as Finance Minister under UPA-I government. Enforcement
directorate is investigating the money laundering case that was lodged in 2018.
