CM Palaniswami comes out with a package to help the vulnerable cope with corona
Highlights of the relief package for the poor and vulnerable

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has announced a slew of measures to help the vulnerable and downtrodden people sail through the prevailing conditions emerging out of the corona virus threat. Realizing the plight of those whose livelihoods have been hit by the pandemic, the government has allocated ₹3280 crores.
Here are some the highlights of the measures announced:
• Ration card holders who did not buy ration items for March can buy the items along with their quota for April.
• For unregistered pavement traders and hawkers, ₹1000 will be provided through Public Distribution Scheme in addition to ₹1000 as relief.
• For the workers who worked under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme this month, an amount equivalent to 2 days salary will be given as bonus
• All rice card holders will be given ₹1000 as relief along with free rations of rice, sugar, cooking oil, dal for the month of April.
• Special package for building workers and auto drivers and their families – Rs.1000 and 15 kg of rice, one kg of pulses and one kg of cooking oil will be provided.
• Hot and nutritious meals will be served through Amma canteens
• Measures will be taken through district administration to provide food at doorstep for elderly people who have food at Anganwadi centres
• Migrant workers currently trapped in Tamil Nadu will be provided with 15 kg of rice, one kg of pulses and one kg of cooking oil.
• Destitute people and others who have no family or income support will be provided with hot and nutritious food at their place of stay. Chennai Corporation Commissioner and other district administrators have been ordered to set up public kitchens for the purpose.
