Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a conversation with US President Trump through telephone for nearly thirty-minutes covering issues of bilateral and regional matters.

During this conversation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled the meeting with US President Donald Trump in Osaka during the occasion of G-20 summit in June. In relation with the bilateral discussions in G-20 summit, PM Modi expressed the hope that the India Minister of Commerce and the US Trade Representative would meet at an early date to discuss about bilateral trade. Prime Minister Modi talked about the importance of creating an environment "free from terror and violence and eschewing cross-border terrorism without exception."

"Certain nations are spreading anti-India propaganda," Prime Minister Modi told the President trump during this conversation and also told that India is highly committed towards regional peace. PM Modi also talked about the extreme rhetoric and incitement to anti-India violence by certain leaders in the region was not favorable to peace.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also emphasized India’s
commitment to cooperate with anyone fighting poverty, illiteracy and disease.


On the occasion of 100 years of the independence of Afghanistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s strong commitment to work for a united, democratic and independent Afghanistan with the US president. PM Modi stated that he appreciated remaining in regular touch with President Trump.

"The two leaders further discussed how they will
continue to strengthen United States-India economic ties through increased
trade, and they look forward to meeting again soon,"
the statement added.
