Kalairaj was arrested by the railway police for misusing the railway concession card of his father, late former DMK minister Trichy Selvaraj, was later released on personal bail, reports Tamil News channel, Polimer News.
Trichy Selvaraj was elected as a DMK MP in 1980 from Trichy Lok Sabha constituency. He also held various posts including the state minister. He joined AIADMK in 2016 and passed away last March due to ill health.
As a Member of Parliament, he was given a railway concession card. Using this, he and his wife could travel for the rest of their lives, free of charge.
After Selvaraj's death, only his wife is supposed to use this concession. Railway officials raided the Bangalore Mail train yesterday. The late MP's son who was traveling by train was asked for the ticket, but he has shown his father's concession card.
Railway Police have lodged a complaint on charges of using his father's concession card and traveling without ticket, reports The Hindu Tamil. He was later released on a personal bail.
