A former Pakistan
MLA belonging to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's PTI party is seeking
political asylum in India as a consequence of atrocities on minorities in
Pakistan. He stated that Hindus and Sikhs are being "tortured" in the
Islamic country Pakistan. Baldev Kumar also stated that even Muslims in
Pakistan are not as safe as life in the country is full of difficulties.
"Not only minorities but even Muslims are not safe there
(Pakistan). We are surviving in Pakistan with a lot of difficulties. I request
the Indian government to give me asylum here. I will not go back," Baldev Kumar told to the news agency ANI.
Baldev Kumar's assertion
once again exposed Pakistan's legacy of not treating minorities in equal with
the majority Muslim community and the minorities of Pakistan are facing extreme
tortures in Pakistan.
Baldev Kumar is
former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MLA from Barikot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) legislative
assembly and Baldev Kumar is in India along with his family to seek political
asylum. He does not want to return to Pakistan and has kept allegations that
minorities in Pakistan including Hindus and Sikhs are tortured in Pakistan.
"The Indian
government should announce a package so that the families of Hindu and Sikh community
living in Pakistan can come here. I want Modi Sahab to do something for them.
They are being tortured there," Baldev Kumar requested.
It also should be
noted that a former sitting MLA from his constituency was assassinated in 2016.
Baldev was also charged with a false murder case but was later acquitted in
2018. This adds to the number of false cases that are filed on minority members
in Pakistan. There are also various reports from Pakistan where the girl
belonging to Hindus and Sikh community are forcibly converted to Islam and are
then forcibly married to Muslim men.
