Madras High Court has clearly said that the court doesn't have any powers to extend the Darshan period of Kanchipuram Athi Varadhar and it is in the hands of government to make this decision of extension.


Srinivasa Ramanuja Sabha head, Govinda Ramanuja Dasar filed a lawsuit in Madras High Court demanding the extension of the Adivaradar darshan at the Kanchipuram Varadaraja Perumal temple for a further 10 days.


When the case came up for hearing at the Madras High Court, the counsel representing the state told that Athi Varadhar Darshan cannot be extended further more. He also quoted minister refusing to grant permission for the extension of Athi Varadhar Darshan.


Following this, the Court told that it cannot order the extension of the Athi Varadhar Darshan further. The court told that this decision can be only be taken by the government and Hindu endowments board.
