Modi government to provide a big boost for Indian forces with $130 billion

As India is
facing countless terror and security threats, Modi government has decided to
come up with a plan to spend US$ 130 billion to boost the combat capability of Indian
armed forces in the next five to seven years as reported by News18.
Based on official sources,
the government is planning to implement a master plan t modernize Indian Army,
Navy and the Air Force under which a range of modern weapons, missiles, fighter
jets and submarines will be procured in the upcoming years.
The sources also
say that the government's first priority is to fast-track infantry modernization,
including the procuration of 2,600 infantry combat vehicles and 1,700 future
ready combat vehicles for the Indian Army. The next priority will be regarding
procuring 110 multirole fighter aircraft for the Indian Air Force.
To strengthen its
operational capability, Indian Navy had already come up with a plan to have 200
ships, 500 aircraft and 24 attack submarines in the next three to four years.
As of now, Indian Navy is having around 132 ships, 220 aircraft and 15 submarines.
Indian Forces are continuously
demanding for adequate allocation of funds so that they can have better
preparations in dealing with the possibility of a "two-front" war on
both eastern and western borders.
