Modi lights up faces of TN farmers, 35 lakhs farmers benefit from Kisan Yojana

Over 35 lakh farmers from Tamil Nadu have benefitted so far from the Pradha Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana. The scheme which provides income support of Rs.6000/- per year is provided to all farmer families across the country in three equal installments of Rs.2000/- each every four months. The scheme is 100% funded by Govt. of India. Identification of families and beneficiaries is the responsibility of the State/UT governments.

The Central Government has allocated Rs 75,000 crore for the fiscal year 2019-2020 and Rs 20,000 crore for 2018-2019.

In this context, the central government's scheme has been very popular among most farmers. Farmers are using this fund to buy seeds and fertilizer needed for cultivation as it provides Rs 6,000 per year.

One year since the roll out of the scheme, the results of different surveys have been welcoming. 35 lakh farmers have benefited in Tamil Nadu alone.

Experts and economists have lauded the scheme and have mentioned that such schemes will enable farmers to come out of debts and will also help the government to keep its finances in check by not resorting to loan waivers.
