National Investigative Agency in
Kerala has discovered a native of Kondotty had translated an Arabic book on
Jihad to Malayalam and that book was circulated by Islamic State (IS)
operatives in Kerala on large scale to indoctrinate young minds to join ISIS in
Kerala. It was found in an investigation conducted to find the radicalization
of a group of Keralites in Bahrain, who later joined ISIS in Syria and this
helped the National Investigative Agency to get vital information about other
IS modules related to Kerala.

NIA has found that Muhammed
Mansoor from Kondotty, Malappuram, had translated the Book of Jihad written by
14th-century scholar Ibn Nuhaa, to Malayalam. It should be noted that
Mallapuram is a Muslim majority district in Kerala. He was working in Bahrain
till October 2015 but later shifted to Syria with his family. Based on the
sources from Ministry of Home Affairs, the book was translated from Arabic to
Malayalam by Mansoor, when he was working for ISIS in Syria.

“The
Book of Jihad was the key literature used by IS handlers to radicalise
vulnerable youth in Kerala. The book in PDF format was used for online
propaganda. The NIA recovered the hard copy as well as soft copies from IS
operatives arrested in other IS-related cases registered in the state,”
the officer said.

NIA
also had submitted a charge sheet in the Kochi court, where the probe made revelations
about the accused persons attending classes at Al Ansar Centre in Bahrain having
networks with Salafi scholars in Kerala.
