"Relationship with US is in very good health" - External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar addressed a press
conference on Tuesday to highlight the achievements of foreign ministry during first
100 days of Prime Minister Narendra Mod government. When he talked about the
relationship between India and United States, he said that the relationship
between two countries has come a long way and also gave an assurance
that the is very healthy between both the countries.
"India-US relations have come a long way, I also assure you
that relations between India and US are in very good health. As the
relationship grows there will be issues. We have been talking to the United
states. My expectation is that the sharper edges will be addressed very soon."
New Narendra Modi’s government is giving its top priority to
countries in India’s neighborhood. Modi made his first set of his foreign
visits to Maldives and Sri Lanka as part of new government’s neighborhood first
policy. While addressing about India's relations with its neighbors, External
Affairs Minister Jaishankar said, "We hope to build a better,
stronger neighbourhood but recognising that we have a unique challenge from one
neighbour (Pakistan) until the issue of cross border terrorism is successfully addressed."
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar also said that there is
strong relation between India’s foreign and domestic policy and he also added
that "The co-relation between our national policy goals and foreign policy
goals has become stronger."
Foreign Minister also talked about PM Modi's upcoming US
visit and said, "The diaspora is, of course, the forte and in many ways
somewhat unique aspect of our foreign policy and that is underlined by what is
going to be coming up very soon in the United States which is a big diaspora
event in partnership with our Indian-American community."
PM Modi is going to address the largest Indian diaspora event in
Houston, Texas on September 22, which will be attended by more than 50,000 Indian
Americans. US President Donald Trump will also join Prime Minister Narendra
Modi in the event. The event is also expected to be Prime Minister Narendra
Modi’s famous Madison Square event in 2014.
India Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to tour United
States between September 21 and 27 and during his visit he will also address
the United Nations General Assembly, meet US CEOs and hold several bilaterals
with various world leaders.
