A First Information
Report was filed in Bihar's Muzaffarpur Police Station on Thursday against 49
people including film director Mani Ratnam for the hate mongering letter written
by these people calling âJai Shree Ramâ as a war cry against minorities in
states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal and this letter had hurt
the sentiments of many Hindu worshippers.
The case was
lodged after an order was passed by Chief Judicial Magistrate Surya Kant Tiwari
based on a petition filed by local advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha.
"The CJM had passed the order on August 20, accepting my
petition upon the receipt of which an FIR was lodged today (Thursday) at the
Sadar police station," petitioner Sudhir Kumar Ojha said.
Case
has been filed for acting against the nation, dishonoring Prime Minister and
also for trying to create rift between Hindu and Muslim communities. As the
slogan of Jai Shree Ram is linked with violence against minorities, this was
seen by many as the intention of these 49 people including film director
Maniratnam to create rift between different religions in this country. Hence,
the cases were filed under various sections including sedition.
