"We will return to our motherland" - Kashmiri Pundits

The Kashmiri Pandit community is in a happy state after the special legal status of Jammu and Kashmir was canceled by the Narendra Modi government. The natives of Kashmir belonging to the Pandit community, where they lived in large numbers were chased away from the state by Islamic extremists and terrorists. They are currently living as refugees in several places, including Delhi and also in many places outside the country.

The statement issued by the Kashmir Pandit community said, “The action of the Central Government has shed new light on our lives. August 5 is the most important day in our lives. This is a historic day. The aims of leaders like Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Dindayal Upadhyaya and Vajpayee have been achieved. Our culture and identity are protected. We live in different parts of the country and will soon return to our mother soil.

In Jammu, despite severe security threats, the people came out of their houses and celebrated the abrogation of article 370 and article 35A, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
