Everything to know about the 2020 IPL Auction

The 12th edition of the Indian
Premier League (IPL) kicks off on the 23rd of March at the M.A.
Chidambaram Stadium, commonly known as the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. The
traditional players auction where teams buy players to add strength to the
franchise is set to be held at Kolkata on the 19th of December where
a total of 971 cricketers will go down under the hammer.


A total of 713 Indians and 258 foreign
players compile the list of cricketers announced by the governing body of the
IPL. Only 73 spots are up for grabs across the eight teams and each team is
supposed to make a list of their players who will go under the final auction
list and submit it duly by 9th December.


The number of players representing each
country in the auction pool on December 19th will look like this:
Afghanistan (19 players), Australia (55 players), Bangladesh (6 players),
England (22 players), Netherlands (1 player), New Zealand (24 players), South
Africa (54 players), Sri Lanka (39 players), USA (1 player), West Indies (34
players) and Zimbabwe (3 players).
