Traditional Sanskrit scholars have also viewed the popular mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik as someone who presents the distorted versions of the Hindu scriptures. There are various retold versions of Hindu scriptures but the core essence of the Hindu scriptures would remain intact in these retold versions but the main accusation on the popular mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik is that he distorts the core essence of Hindu scriptures in his retelling. He was also viewed as someone completely removing the historical essence of the Hindu scriptures and completely project them as mythology.
His recent tweet confirms these views of traditional Sanskrit scholars. He recently posted in his twitter that there is no mention of Lord Shiva in Vedas.
His fact that Shiva is not mentioned in Vedas turned out to false. Shri Rudram, which is chanted while worshipping Lord Shiva is part of Yajur Veda. Shri Rudram is part of Shri Krishna Yajurveda's Taittiriya Samhita and the popular chant "Om Namah Shivaya" appears in this Shri Rudram, which is part of Yajur Veda.

Such distortions which completely alters the core essence of Hindu religion and culture should be exposed as people like Devdutt Pattanaik who carry out such distortions have a cult following. Such distortions from someone popular like Devdutt Pattanaik influence youngsters in a wrong way and project a false image about Hinduism to the future generations.
