India sends aid to Sri lanka, Leaders thank India

India sends life saving medicines to Sri Lanka in an effort to help its neighbours tackle COVID-19

On Tuesday, India sent the first consignment of medicines (HCQ and paracetamol) to Sri Lanka in an effort to help its neighbours in the fight against COVID-19. The medicines arrived in a special chartered flight. The consignment was of 10 tonnes.

Mr. Gotabaya Rajapakse took to twitter to thank the Indian people and the government for its gesture. He tweeted "I wish to convey my heartfelt appreciation to Hon PM Narendra Modi, Govt & people of India for your warm gesture in sending medicines to LKA on a special chartered flight. Your kind & generous support is deeply appreciated in this hour of need."

In a statement released by the Government of Sri Lanka, it said "This is yet another manifestation of India's unwavering commitment to stand with Sri Lanka in rain and shine."
